Fotografien

Libro Fotografien

As I recall discovering this book of photographs, I remember the sense of beauty and mystery that remains undiminished almost seventy years after its original publication. On a formal plane, one can easily understand how Man Ray manipulated the optics of the camera, juxtaposing near and far, object against object, space against object, and tactile against transparent. It is also apparent how he deliberately manipulated the process of photographic printmaking, using unusual tones of black, white, and gray to transform content into spaces, forms and surfaces. However, it is not simply how Man...

Anthological exhibition of Cuban photography, fifty artists and one hundred images allow an extensive tour of the development of photography in Cuba since its arrival on the island in 1840 to the present. With this exhibition, curated by the specialist Rafael Acosta de Arriba, the exhibition of Cuban photography returns to the Museum's halls. Somehow a similar attempt was made in 1983, when another representative sample of our photography was deployed to date. For the occasion, a catalog has been published in which several specialists discuss photography in Cuba, prominent women photographers ...

An incomparable portrait artist and Colombia's most outstanding photographer of the second half of the 20th century, Hernán Díaz is a cultured and versatile professional. Together, the hundred black-and-white photographs collected in this book form a gallery of Colombia's most important social, cultural, and political figures from the 1960s to the present day. Though the subjects are often public figures, Díaz's evident comradery with them brings a rare intimacy to their portraits. A critical study of his work accompanies the reproductions.
