Resumen del Libro

As part of the celebration of the Symposium "Shell and Spatial Structures: New Materials and Technologies, New Designs and Innovations -- A Sustainable Approach to Architectural and Structural Design" of the International Association of Special Structures (IASS-SLTE) held October 23-31, 2008 in Acapulco, the Faculty of Architecture of the UNAM developed 3 projects specifically for the occasion: 1) An exhibition of representative scale models of the "golden age" (1950-1975) of the construction of reinforced concrete shells in Mexico; 2) A documentary featuring the characteristics and evolution of these structures, and 3) the publication of the present monograph. This editorial project comprises 5 articles that approach diverse aspects of the analysis, design and construction of different reinforced concrete structures constructed in Mexico mostly by architect Félix Candela.
