El libro constituye un buen resumen de un debate entablado a lo largo del siglo xix y, fundamentalmente, el siglo xx. La relación entre interior y exterior, la verdad o falsedad del ornamento, la calidad estructural de las fachadas... Un debate capital en la Historia de la Arquitectura Contemporánea, que los autores estudian y analizan en la obra de algunos grandes arquitectos de estos dos siglos: Loos, Wrigst, Wagner, Hoffmann, Mies o Le Corbusier, entre otros.

This volume features 25 architectural works constructed in Chile by architect Valdés between 1963 and 2007. It also comprises a series of texts that the author gathered after several conversations with the architect from 2001 to 2006, in a first-hand account of the creative process established by the architect about design, material, construction and space.

Este trabajo ha sido preparado íntegramente en la Universidad Jorge Tadeo Lozano. La base principal del texto la constituye la experiencia acumulada de muchos años como profesor y conferencista de temas de Historia y Teoría de la Arquitectura en varias universidades colombianas y latinoamericanas. Each book begins with an overview of the architect's style and accomplishments written by a leading architecture critic.
