Se abordan los diferentes aspectos constitutivos de la realidad del ámbito onubense en la baja edad media. Firmas como Ladero Quesada, Collantes de Terán o González Jiménez realizan sus aportaciones a la Historia del suroeste castellano que se ven completados por colaboraciones desde el ámbito de la arqueología, los nuevos estudios sobre la nobleza, la poliorcética o la vida religiosa. Se completa con una recogida bibliografía exhaustiva de las obras para el conocimiento histórico de este área durante la Edad Media Cristiana.
