En Busca de la Calidad Academica
Resumen del Libro
This book talks about the approaches that different countries and systems have addressed when trying to improve the quality of teaching and research services in the university level. It gives a recount on the context and the precedents that this topic has nowadays, in relation to university quality and how this is qualified globally. The authors emphasize on the importance of the new rules of management, in where the common denominator is the notion of accountability and also another point worth mentioning is the way they classify university institutions in four types: the Missionaries (they focus on the institutional mission), the Venerable (they focus on their historic reputation), Wannabes (they focus on the achievements that are based on ideal goals) and Competitive (Top of the Pile). The cases described in this book are the ones from the universities of France, The United States of America and England, where the main point is to examine and reflect the dynamics of change that are expected in institutions that adopt a certain incentive model for academic quality.
