Este libro centra su atenci n en los trabajadores en las calles, en particular los m s pobres, quienes buscaban su subsistencia en estos espacios abiertos. Su objetivo es analizar los cambios en las formas de trabajo y las pr cticas sociales de esta poblaci n durante las primeras d cadas del siglo XX, a os de modernizaci n de la ciudad y de inestabilidades pol ticas. Esta investigaci n ganadora del Premio Salvador Azuela 2006 del INERHM aborda la historia del trabajo en las calles, un tema de plena actualidad en una ciudad como la capital mexicana.

El libro hace un estudio sobre los procesos de salud-enfermedad de las poblaciones aborígenes de la costa pacífica colombo-ecuatoriana, utilizando una metodología transdisciplinaria que logra integrar los conocimientos obtenidos por disciplinas científicas como la arqueología, la historia, la medicina y la historia del arte.
