Oscar Toledo Esteva, científico polifacético, nació en 1946 en Sidar, Oaxaca, hablante nativo de zapoteco del Istmo. En el año 2002 comenzó un diccionario del zapoteco del Istmo (diidxazá). Al año 2019 su diccionario se ha convertido en el más grande del idioma zapoteco con 22800 definiciones, mismas que ahora se han recopilado en este libro.
