La Expedición Botánica y el Bicentenario de la Independencia de Colombia son eventos que marcan un momento histórico trascendental y permanecen ligados hasta hoy día. El punto de partida de la investigación de mi proyecto de ilustración científica es, particularmente, la expedición del sabio José Celestino Mutis, con sus colaboradores científicos como Francisco José de Caldas, Jorge Tadeo Lozano y los pintores de la admirable obra de las láminas de la Expedición.
