El río Carabelas es una de las 350 corrientes de agua que atraviesan el delta del Paraná. En la segunda mitad del s. XIX un grupo de vascos ya residentes en la Argentina decidió colonizar sus márgenes. Hoy, con la quinta generación ya en escena, los vascos del río Carabelas constituyen un grupo de familias con una identidad colectiva cierta. Esta identidad se ve amenazada por las pautas matrimoniales, educativas, profesionales y residenciales, pero aún así conservan su identidad, su referencia a la epopeya fundacional y al territorio primero, utilizando rituales periódicos para ello.
