An elderly woman who uses the title 'Countess' to live a life of leisure and luxury refuses to sacrifice her lifestyle as she grows old. This monograph focuses on modality in Spanish. It presents the theoretical approach to this category formulated by Bohumil Zavadil and, consequently, it analyses its possible application to Spanish.
