Reseña: La Lingüística actual busca trascender los límites a que puede llevar una visión excesivamente estructural de las lenguas, y para ello pretende analizar el funcionamiento de estas en su realidad más inmediata, la conversación, el coloquio, el diálogo, como actividades enunciativas básicas en la actuación lingüística. De esta forma, perspectivas tales como la pragmática, la lingüística del texto, el análisis del discurso y, sobre todo, el estudio de la oralidad se han convertido en ejes fundamentales de la moderna ciencia del lenguaje. Dentro de la lingüística ha sido la sintaxis la que más se ha beneficiado de estas nuevas orientaciones, que también han llegado al análisis histórico y diacrónico, enlazando así con la más tradicional y fecunda Filología. Para la presencia de estas perspectivas teórico-metodológ̤icas en España ha sido fundamental la figura de Antonio Narbona, a cuya labor científica esta obra rinde merecido homenaje.
