En París, cuando trabajaba en la radiotelevisión francesa, un día recibí de la editorial Julliard la novela "Pas de lettre pour le colonel", y así descubrí a García Márquez, en francés. Desde entonces supe de él. Al publicar yo "La ciudad y los perros", recibí una carta suya, y empezamos a escribirnos, e incluso planeamos escribir esa novela a cuatro manos sobre la guerra peruano-colombiana, un proyecto que finalmente quedó en nada.
