Las bóvedas de Guastavino en América

Resumen del Libro

Rafael Guastavino fue un arquitecto valenciano que, a finales del s. XIX, emigró a América para realizar su sueño: convertir la bóveda tabicada en el motivo central de la arquitectura. A su muerte, su hijo continuó con su labor, ya con menor reconocimiento, pero con igual audacia e ingenio hasta los años 1950. Padre e hijo son los últimos grandes constructores de bóvedas de fábrica, ya en plena decadencia de este modo constructivo. El libro recoge 18 ensayos sobre la figura de los Guastavino and Co. (Madrid, 2001). La parte de catálogo recoge una abundante selección de imágenes de los fondos del archivo Guastavino de la Avery Library hasta hora inéditas. El libro ha recibido el Premio COAM 2003 a la Difusión de la Arquitectura.
