Este libro surge de varias investigaciones anteriores en las que he podido comprobar los problemas que enfrentan los estudiantes para realizar tareas relacionadas con la lectura. Al realizar historias escolares con estudiantes de bachillerato y con adultos económicamente activos, me pude percatar de las deficiencias de la enseñanza en diferentes niveles escolares y la falta de formación de los profesores, quienes reconocen el déficit lector pero no saben cómo resolverlo.
