En este libro se recopilan y analizan documentos encontrados en el Archivo General de Indias, en Sevilla (España), referentes a las relaciones entre españoles e indígenas en la Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta durante los siglos XVI y XVII. La variedad de temas tratados es amplia: desde las expediciones militares españolas, pasando por censos, hasta documentos relacionados con la extirpación de la idolatría nativa. Con este trabajo se espera contribuir a que los estudiosos de la región cuenten con un material documental de primer orden.
